Fire Chief, 1989 - 2004

Provided fire suppression and first responder services to the citizens of Union Township. Held position of Safety officer in 1994 and entered line officer duty in 1995. Served as Chief Financial Officer since 1997 (controlling funds in excess of $300,000 yearly). In year 2000, assumed the role of Fire Chief. Moved Union Fire-Rescue forward with innovative yet cost-effective measures. Retired in December of 2004 as Fire Chief.
**Established relationship with Porter Hospital to house an ALS ambulance at Union Fire-Rescue. This provided a 75% better average response time and provided rental income for UnionFire Rescue.
**Acquired 5 new vehicles and 1 boat for Union Fire-Rescue, all under budget and without additional tax dollars.
**Increased training from just over 2,000 man hours to just over 6,000 man hours.
**Redesigned Union Fire-Rescue station 1200 into a training-friendly facility.

Part-Time dispatcher at a full-service police department, including the answering of 9-1-1 calls. Also provided computer services and developed database for tracking all contacts, reports and enforcement fines.
